Little Edie Made Drew Barrymore A Woman

Drew Barrymore

In the March 2008 issue of Vogue, Drew Barrymore says she found the role of a lifetime portraying ‚Äö?Ñ??Little Edie‚Äö?Ñ?? Bouvier Beale in HBO’s upcoming production, “Grey Gardens”.

‚Äö?Ñ??Something about learning you can live without everything changes you. All my life, I‚Äö?Ñ?¥ve been waiting and waiting to become a woman, but I always felt like a little girl.

Edie did too, but I think she might have been the thing that made me finally become a woman. I thought for sure it would be a relationship with another human being, a love. Little did I know, it would be a posthumous relationship with… Edith Beale.‚Äö?Ñ??

Dinner With Anna

Source:Page Six
June 8, 2006 –

DON’T expect to see Lindsay Lohan on the cover of Vogue any time soon. Lohan annoyed Vogue editrix Anna Wintour Monday night as a guest at Wintour’s table at the CFDA awards because, she “got up to use the bathroom to powder her nose six times in two hours,” said our spy. During the last trip, Wintour leaned over and whispered to a Vogue staffer: “Tell her, if she gets up one more time, she will never be invited to one of my events again.” Lohan’s date, Karl Lagerfeld, was then told, “Karl, this is your guest, control her!” A rep for Wintour said, “Anna was definitely surprised at how busy Lindsay was, but she offered no threat.”

She’s No Buffalo Gal

Vogue editor Anna Wintour and British pop icon Malcolm McLaren won’t likely be riding in the same elevator any time soon. According to The New York Daily News, Wintour neglected to invite the mastermind behind the punk rock group The Sex Pistols to her “Anglomania” gala at the Metropolitan Museum of Art last night. McLaren and ex-wife, fashion designer Vivian Westwood were the creators of more than 20 vintage punk era outfits which were on display at the fund-raising gala, but McLaren didn’t even receive word of the event until last weekend.

Mclaren’s office brought the oversight to the attention of Wintour and the event organizers who assured the 60 year rocker he would have a seat at the evening’s star-studded dinner, but shortly thereafter a MET staff member informed Mclaren he was no longer invited.

A spokeswoman for the Met stated the fund-raiser had been “sold out for months” and a table for McLaren would be impossible to acquire. An outraged Mclaren commented on Wintour and the event organizers, issuing a statement saying “It’s not gracious, its not elegant, it’s not polite and it’s a kind of an attack upon the artists themselves!”

PETA Sends Vogue Holiday Jeer
December 14, 2005

Anna Wintour can‚Äö?Ñ?¥t catch a break. Just two days after PETA plastered bathrooms at the Vogue editor‚Äö?Ñ?¥s favorite haunts with stickers calling her a “fur hag,” we hear the animal rights faction is planning an all-out assault on her staff‚Äö?Ñ?Æwith Christmas cards.

According to PETA spokesman Michael McGraw, the anti-fur outfit is planning to mail festive green-and-red envelopes to the glossy‚Äö?Ñ?¥s staff containing illustrated peek-a-boo cards that open to reveal an emaciated Wintour in her underwear. A message scrawled on the front and inside reads: ‚Äö?Ñ??Without Fur I Am Nothing.‚Äö?Ñ?? (Fashionistas may recall similar cards being handed out during New York Fashion Week in 2000.)

‚Äö?Ñ??We have a mailing list for the entire staff of Vogue, and they‚Äö?Ñ?¥ll be going out this week to everyone,‚Äö?Ñ?? McGraw said. Asked how PETA had obtained the list, the rep first cracked, ‚Äö?Ñ??That‚Äö?Ñ?¥s proprietary information,‚Äö?Ñ?? before saying, somewhat ominously, ‚Äö?Ñ??Not everyone on Anna‚Äö?Ñ?¥s staff shares her fetish for fur.‚Äö?Ñ?? (Of course, they could have just looked at the masthead.)

Why is PETA so stuck on Wintour?

‚Äö?Ñ??We‚Äö?Ñ?¥ve been trying to work with the magazine since the early nineties, but they have repeatedly turned down paid PETA anti-fur ads sight-unseen,‚Äö?Ñ?? the spokesman said, adding that advertisements featuring ‚Äö?Ñ??some of the biggest names in Hollywood‚Äö?Ñ?? like Charlize Theron, Kim Basinger, and Pamela Anderson have run in other fashion mags. ‚Äö?Ñ??We simply ask for equal time. If they‚Äö?Ñ?¥re going to promote fur through dozens and dozens of editorial and advertising pages each month, at least let us pay for an anti-fur ad.‚Äö?Ñ??

While Wintour shows no signs of bending to her blood-tossing b?‚Ñ¢tes noires, McGraw says the group “remains hopeful that Anna will have a change of heart.” After all, Martha Stewart, who was at the top of PETA‚Äö?Ñ?¥s ‚Äö?Ñ??worst-dressed list‚Äö?Ñ?? last year, has since ‚Äö?Ñ??learned about the cruelty involved and actually narrated an anti-fur video for us,‚Äö?Ñ?? he said.

If Wintour fails to follow Martha‚Äö?Ñ?¥s lead, what kind of greeting can she expect for the next Hallmark holiday? ‚Äö?Ñ??We have no plans yet for Easter,‚Äö?Ñ?? McGraw said, ‚Äö?Ñ??though Valentine’s Day may see some PETA cupids outside Cond?¬© Nast.‚Äö?Ñ??
