Time Burton casts his “Alice”, MTV will ruin “The Rocky Horror Picture Show” and “The Day The Earth Stood Still” gets a cool teaser poster.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, director Tim Burton has chosen Australian actress Mia Wasikowska (pictured above with Xavier Samuel in “September”) to star in his big-screen adaptation of “Alice in Wonderland” for Disney pictures.

Based on a script by Linda Woolverton (”The Lion King”), Burton’s new take on Lewis Carroll’s classic fantasy novel will be shot with live-action and performance-capture footage and presented in Disney Digital 3-D.

Variety reports that MTV is planning to remake the 1975 cult classic “The Rocky Horror Picture Show”. Lame.

The new version will stick with the old screenplay written by Jim Sharman and Richard O’Brien and may include music not featured in the original.

No director or cast has been announced, but MTV hope to have this mess ready by Halloween 2009.

Finally, here’s a very cool new teaser poster for the upcoming remake (there’s that word again) of “The Day The Earth Stood Still.” The new poster features a Gort-like figure getting ready to uphold the law.
