The Irish actor talks to Details about being in the limelight and vanity.

Irish actor Jonathan Rhys Meyers is Details Magazine’s December 2007 cover-boy.

In an interview with the men’s fashion publication, the star of Showtime’s “The Tudors” talks about being in the limelight and Hollywood’s vanity.

“Let‚Äö?Ñ?¥s not kid ourselves” he says, “this business is about being good-looking. Look, Brad Pitt is an incredible actor, but do you think he‚Äö?Ñ?¥d be a famous movie star if he didn‚Äö?Ñ?¥t look like that? Come on! Some mornings, some days, you just don‚Äö?Ñ?¥t have that physical confidence. That‚Äö?Ñ?¥s a horrible feeling. A lot of my success is because of what I look like. I know that.”

Rhys Meyers goes on to make a frank confession about himself. ‚Äö?Ñ??You know why I stay out of the limelight? I always think there will be that time that people will find out that I‚Äö?Ñ?¥m crap at what I do. I think they will figure out I‚Äö?Ñ?¥m crap. Doesn‚Äö?Ñ?¥t everybody have that feeling?‚Äö?Ñ??

The Details interview is accompanied by a photo layout by acclaimed photographer Steven Klein. In a case of art imitating art, an image of a leather jacket-clad Rhys Meyers dangling a cigarette from the side of his mouth, channels a 1980 self-portrait of controversial photographer Robert Mapplethorpe.
