Eva Mendes has landed on the cover of what is considered to be the fashion bible, Vogue.

Famed photographer Steven Meisel asked the 34-year-old Cuban-American actress to pose for Italian Vogue after they worked together on Calvin Klein’s upcoming perfume and underwear ads earlier this year.

In this sampling of the retro inspired photographs, Mendes channels one of Italy’s biggest exports, Hollywood icon Sofia Loren.
