Some straight hater swears on his stack of Enquirers and Judy Garland CDs that John Kennedy JR. was bisexual and had a string of man to man flings which apparently went on for several years without a single paparazzi ever snapping one shred of evidence. Of course this claim is being made years after JFK JR’s death which makes it all the more credible. If the article were in print you could probably use it to line your bird cage, so I’m providing this link so readers can print it out and make Tweety happy.

Variety has officially declared VHS dead, it now joins Laserdiscs, 8 Tracks and it’s nemesis Betamax in the annals of entertainment history.
The long-ailing format’s demise became official after the video biz’s all-important fourth quarter earnings. Competition from high-definition formats and next-generation vidogame consoles were too much for the 70’s icon to handle and retailers decided to pull the plug, saying there was no longer shelf space.
VHS had a lucrative life, and continued to make as much as $300 million a year until this year, when studios stopped manufacturing the tapes.

Donald Trump has given the axe to his longtime right-hand woman and Apprentice costar Carolyn Kepcher.
According to the New York Post, Kepcher was given the boot after Trump became frustrated by her outside projects. Carolyn “became a prima donna” says a source for The Post, “being on ‘The Apprentice’ went to her head. She was no longer focused on business. She was giving speeches for $25,000 and doing endorsements.” The source also goes on to say “that when Trump tried to reach her recently, she was off on a trip to make a speech. Another time, while giving a tour of the pro shop at the Briarcliff club, she didn’t seem to know the prices on any of the merchandise.”

Rodgers & Hammerstein’s musical “South Pacific” gets a fresh makeover in this production of the Pulitzer Prize-winning blockbuster performed live in concert at Carnegie Hall on June 9th, 2005.
Based on James Michener’s collection of short stories “Tales of the South Pacific”, this version restores Robert Russell Bennett’s original orchestrations from the 1949 Broadway production of “South Pacific” and is presented without the use of sets or backdrops, placing the focus instead on the brilliant musical score and the cast’s breath-taking performances.
The all-star lineup includes Reba McEntire, Brian Stokes Mitchell, Jason Danieley, Alec Baldwin and Lillias White as Bloody Mary performing live on a bare stage with just the orchestra.
PBS aired “South Pacific’ in Concert from Carnegie Hall” on April 26th, 2006 as part of their long-running “Great Performances” series.

After enjoying an extended, sold out run off-Broadway at the Playwrights Horizon theatre, Grey Gardens, the critically acclaimed musical about real life mother and daughter eccentrics Big Edie and Little Edie Bouvier, transfers to the Walter Kerr Theater on Broadway this fall.

Previews begin Tuesday, October 3rd 2006 with regular performances commencing on Thursday, November 2nd 2006. Original cast members Christine Ebersole and Mary-Louise Wilson will once again reprise their much-lauded performances as Little Edie and Big Edie Bouvier Beale.

If you get the chance to see “Grey Gardens,” run, don’t walk to see it. I can’t recommend this show highly enough, it is undoubtedly one of the best productions to hit the New York stage in quite some time. The performances, particularly by Ebersole and Wilson, are nothing short of amazing.

Cooper’s Own Sad Story
By Rush & Molloy
Source: New York Daily News

Anderson Cooper has traveled the globe covering war and famine and disaster, but he’s been reluctant to report on his own family tragedy - until now.
In his new memoir, “Dispatches From the Edge,” Cooper writes that reporting the horrors of Hurricane Katrina cracked open a levee holding back memories of his brother Carter’s 1988 suicide.
“For so long, I tried to separate myself from my past,” Cooper recalls. “I tried to move on, forget what I’d lost, but the truth is, none of it’s ever gone away.”
As the children of heiress Gloria Vanderbilt, Cooper and his brother knew a childhood of privilege, where artists like Truman Capote and Andy Warhol were regular guests at their townhouse. Then their father, Wyatt, died in 1978 when Anderson was 10 and Carter was 12. “The world,” he writes, “seemed a very scary place.”

50 Years Later, ‘Peyton’ Memories Remain

The borders of this colonial-era town suggest an A-frame house on the brink of toppling over. They form a squarish figure with a triangular extension that appears raised to the right and balanced on one corner, as if a mere push could send it tumbling down to Massachusetts.
For the most part, history has respected Gilmanton to the point of indifference. No wars have been fought here, no gold or oil discovered. There have been no major plagues or natural disasters. No president, movie star or Internet billionaire was born in Gilmanton or uses one of its lakefront residences as a summer home.
Only once, 50 years ago, did the house of Gilmanton receive a fatal shove, from a novel named “Peyton Place.”
Grace Metalious’ sensational story of sex, violence and other scandals in a small New England town, based in part on Gilmanton, made the author an international celebrity and a local pariah. It transformed an otherwise obscure township into a symbol of decadence and hypocrisy and rivaled Elvis Presley as a shocking breach to the official decorum of the 1950s.
Metalious is long dead, and many who knew her have also passed on, but “Peyton Place” remains the biggest news ever to hit Gilmanton. Thanks to the book’s anniversary and to a planned movie starring Sandra Bullock as Metalious, a discussion few desire could well begin again.

New Animal Resembles Furry Lobster
Wednesday, March 8, 2006; Posted: 5:15 a.m. EST (10:15 GMT)
Source: CNN.com

PARIS, France (AP) — Divers have discovered a new crustacean in the South Pacific that resembles a lobster and is covered with what looks like silky, blond fur, French researchers said Tuesday. Scientists said the animal, which they named Kiwa hirsuta, was so distinct from other species that they created a new family and genus for it.
A team of American-led divers found the animal in waters 2,300 meters (7,540 feet) deep at a site 1,500 kilometers (900 miles) south of Easter Island last year, according to Michel Segonzac of the French Institute for Sea Exploration. The new crustacean is described in the journal of the National Museum of Natural History in Paris. The animal is white and 15 centimeters (5.9 inches) long — about the size of a salad plate. In what Segonzac described as a “surprising characteristic,” the animal’s pincers are covered with sinuous, hair-like strands. It’s also blind. The researchers found it had only “the vestige of a membrane” in place of eyes, Segonzac said.
The researchers said that while legions of new ocean species are discovered each year, it is quite rare to find one that merits a new family. The family was named Kiwaida, from Kiwa, the goddess of crustaceans in Polynesian mythology. The diving expedition was organized by Robert Vrijenhoek of the Monterey Bay Aquarium Research Institute in California.Copyright 2006 The Associated Press.
