Oscar winner Jessica Lange was taken by surprise when she was honored by New York City’s Film Society Of Lincoln Center on Monday night, when her celebrity pals took to the stage to talk about her short-comings. The Tootsie actress was paid the tribute by the renowned cinematic body in recognition of her contribution to film and television. Misery actress Kathy Bates took the stage with Joan Allen to make fun of Lange’s perceived lack of a sense of humor, with Allen saying, “Remember that time in the make-up room (on Bonneville) when she told us not to buy from Exxon because their profits were too high. She’s a laugh riot!” Scottish actor Alan Cumming recalled starring naked alongside Lange, who turns 57 tomorrow, in Titus. He said to her, “I don’t know what you’re talking about Jessica, but you’ve got fantastic tits.” To which she replied, “Please, if your hand weren’t there that thing would be halfway round my back.”

HUGH Dancy - the handsome young Earl of Essex who steals the Virgin Queen’s heart in the second half of HBO’s brilliant “Elizabeth I” - was urging the A-listers at the intermission of Tuesday night’s screening to stay for the film’s conclusion. “I feel like an usher,” laughed Dancy, whose part went to Errol Flynn in 1939’s “The Private Lives of Elizabeth and Essex” starring Bette Davis. Helen Mirren, who plays the queen in this one, ate a quick stand-up supper at the Museum of Modern Art as she received flattering comparisons with the legendary Davis from the likes of William F. and Pat Buckley, John and Susan Gutfreund, Alfred and Judy Taubman, Anne Bass, Yue-Sai Kan, John Huey and Lauren Bush.

“Fantastic Four” star Chris Evans tried to snatch a mere mortal’s bottle of vodka. At Nest in Chelsea, Evans and pals approached a table in the VIP area and started pouring drinks. The table’s occupant appeared and asked Evans, “What the hell are you doing?” Evans and his posse were escorted by security back to the main area.

B-LIST party boy Simon Rex was literally caught with his pants down at the Chelsea nightclub Stereo over the weekend.
The soused “Scary Movie” actor asked to use his cellphone in a private hallway, but when owners Michael Satsky and Barry Mullineaux checked on him 10 minutes later, they found Rex with his pants down and about to empty his bladder on the floor. They immediately bounced him out of the club.
Exposing himself is nothing new for Rex: Before he became semi-famous as an MTV veejay in the 1990s, the former Paris Hilton plaything appeared in gay porn videos.

Jared Paul Stern shot by Patrick McMullan
A New York Post Page Six staffer solicited $220,000 from a high-profile billionaire in return for a year‚Äö?Ñ?¥s ‚Äö?Ñ??protection‚Äö?Ñ?? against inaccurate and unflattering items about him in the gossip page, the Daily News has learned.
In two 90-minute meetings, characterized by a shocking breach of ethics, Jared Paul Stern, a fixture on the city‚Äö?Ñ?¥s gossip scene who also edited Page Six The Magazine, asked for a series of payments from Ron Burkle, the managing partner of Yucaipa Cos., a conglomerate with interests in supermarkets, celebrity clothing lines, and media.
It was all a setup, a sting monitored by law enforcement, including the U.S. attorney‚Äö?Ñ?¥s office and the FBI, who are now investigating the extortion attempt. The meetings, on March 22 and March 31, were videotaped.
